Dr .R. Winston Revie obtained the Bachelor degree in metallurgical engineering from McGill University in Montreal, the Master degree in materials engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (R.P.I.) in Troy, New York, and the Ph.D. from M.I.T. in Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.

After five years of postdoctoral work in Australia, he joined CANMET, in 1978, and has been working on pipeline corrosion ever since. Dr. Revie is the co-author of a university textbook, Corrosion and Corrosion Control, third edition, and is the Editor of Uhlig’s Corrosion Handbook, Second Edition, Wiley in New York, February 2000. He is also a member of the Editorial Board of Corrosion, published by NACE International

Active in numerous professional societies, he is a Past Chairman of ASM, Canada Council and of The Electrochemical Society, Canadian Region.

He is now the Program Manager for Infrastructure Reliability, and is responsible for studies on pipelines and other infrastructure.
